休刊日：Newspaper holiday

少し遅くなりましたが、あけましておめでとうございます。

A little late, but Happy New Year.

年末年始は３日間お休みがありました。

I had  three days off over the New year holidays.

外国人の友人に驚かれ「君たちの会社はブラック企業だね」と言われましたが、

My foreign firiend was surprised and said, " Your company is a black company, huh?",

新聞社はほぼ２４時間、一年中稼働しているため仕方がないのです。

but newspaper companies operate almost 24 hours a day, year-round, so it can't be helped.

でも私たちには公式な休日があります。

But we have official day off .

それは休刊日と呼ばれています。

They're colled newspaper holiday.

月に1度、休刊日があるのです

Once a month, we have a no newuspaper day.

そしてこれは日本全国の新聞社で同じです。

And this is the same for all newspapers across Japan.

しかも、全ての会社が同じ日にそれを設定しています。

Moreover, every company sets it on the same day.

従業員の公式な休みは、その前日です。

The official day off for emproyees is the day before.

もしあなたの購読している新聞が届かない日があったとしたら、

If there’s ever a day when your subscribed newspaper isn't delivored,

それは、その前日が私の公式な休日だったってことですよ。

it means the day before was my official day off.
