大変なことになってしまいました。
It was a big deal.

毎春、会社主催の大イベントが行われるのですが、そのスタッフに駆り出されることになったのです。
My company sponsers a big event every spring, and I've been asked to be a saff member for it.

基本的に全社員がスタッフとして参加するのですが、翌日の新聞発行に携わる社員だけが参加せずに会社に残り、普段通りに仕事をします。
Basically, all employees participate as staff, but only those who are involved in the  pubrication of the next day's newspaper stay at the company and work as usual.

私はもちろん会社で仕事をする派でした。
I, of course, was the one who worked at the office.

数年前まではスタッフとして3年間ほど参加していたのですが、朝早いのと、寒さで風邪をひくため、4年目からはイベントスタッフになることをお断りしてきました。
I had participated in the event as a stuff member for about three years untill a few years ago, but I have refused to be a staff member of the event since the fourth year because of my ealy morning and the cold that I catch.

しかしなぜか今年は強制的に参加させられるのです。
However, for some reason, this year I'm forced to participate.

望んだ仕事をさせてくれるそうなので、申し込み用紙の第２希望に「通訳」と書きました。
I heard that they would let me do whatever I wanted, so I wrote "interpreter" as my second choice on the apprication form.

第一希望は今まで経験したことのある、寒い仕事です。
My first choice is a cold job that I have experienced before.

寒い仕事も嫌ですが、でももし第２希望の通訳やらされたらどうしよう。
I hate cold jobs, but what if they give me my second choice, interpreting?

どうしよう、どうしよう〜！
