Flied catfish
Until last week, I’ve attended three English conversation circles.
Here is a story I heard there that I thought was interesting.
One day, there were only two American participants who came.
When I wondered why there were so few, a staff member told me that it was because it was their payday.
The Americans who attend the circle are mainly from the US military bases, and the US military has two paydays a month.
They all go out drinking on the night of their payday, so fewer people attend on the 1st and 15th.
Another interesting story.
Americans often eat catfish.
The way they cook it is not baked or boiled, only fried.
(Maybe because they smell fishy?).
Fried catfish is popular and everyone loves it.
Catfish is written in Kanjies as '猫魚'.
I asked, "Because it purrs like a cat?" I asked, "Because it has a mustache".
I see...
