心地よい着付け：Comfortable Dressing

先週ALTの女性と和服屋さんへ行きました。

I went to a kimono shop with an ALT lady last week.

着物の着付けを習うためです。

The purpose was to learn kimono dressing.

私たちは着付けに必要な全てを持っていったのですが、彼らが用意してくれた道具を全て借りることになりました。

We brought everything we needed to dress, but we had to borrow all the tools they had prepared for us. 

というのも、帯を体の前で結ぶ方法を教わったからです。

This is because we were taught a method of tying the obi in front of the body.

通常着物の帯は体の後ろで結びます。

Usually, the the obis are tied behind the body.

だから難しくて、多くの日本人は自分一人で結ぶことができず、着物を着る機会が少ないのです。

So it's dificult and many Japanese cna't tie that by themselves and have few opportunities to wear kimonos.

でももし体の前で結べたら簡単だし綺麗ですし、いいことしかありません。

But if we can tie obis in front of our body, it's easy and prrety, which can only be a good thing.

そのために必要な特別な道具でした。

They are special tools needed  for that purpose.

腰紐は1本も使わず、代わりにゴムベルトを使ったので、苦しくありませんでした。

We didn't use any koshihimo, instead we used elastic belts, so we didn't suffer.

着付け終了後の彼女の一声は「とても心地よいわ」でした。

Her first comment after we finished dressing her was, " it's so comfortable".

ああよかった。

Oh, that was good.

ちなみに、通訳は全くできませんでした。

By the way, I couldn't interpret at all.

自分が授業についていくのに必死だったから。

I was struggling to keep up with the class.
