Last time I revealed that I'm a grahic designer working for a newspaper.

ほとんどの方は「紙面をレイアウトしているのね」と思うでしょう。
Most people would think, "So you lay out the pages of the paper”.

多くの方が知らないのですが、その仕事をしているのはグラフィックデザイナーではなく、整理記者という紙面レイアウト専門の記者です。
What many people don't know is that the job is not done by a graphick designer, but by a journalist who specializes in pepar layout, colled an arrangement reporter.

新聞記者には２種類あります。
There're two types of newspaper reporters.

一つめは、取材をして記事を書いたり、読者からの投稿を編集して記事を書く記者。
First, reporters who write articles by covering stories or  editiing posts from readers.

二つめは、記者が書いた文章を読み、見出しをつけ、パソコン上で写真とともにレイアウトする整理記者です。
The second type is arrangement reporters, who read the articles written by reporters, add headline, and lay out the articles with photos on a computer.

もともと、記者が書いた記事は文章だけでタイトルはありません。
Originally, articles written by reporters are  only text and  have no titles.

見出しは整理記者が考えるのです。
The headlines are thought up by arrangement reporters.

新聞の見出しがいかに重要かは、新聞をお読みになる方には分かりますよね？
If you read newspapers, you know how important newspaper headlines are, don't you?

新聞記者は全国の支社ごとに複数人いますが、整理記者は整理部のある本社にしか存在しません。
There are several newspaper reporters in each of the branches nationwide, but the arrangement reporters exist only at the head office, where the arrangement department is located.

彼らはかなり希少かつ重要な存在と言えましょう。
They're quite rare and important.
