今年の冬は暖かく、雪が全く積もりません。
This winter has been warm and there has been no snow at all.

今シーズンは、まだ1度も雪かきをしていないのです。
I  have yet to do one snow shoveling this season.

暖かい冬は、会社の利益を減少させます。
Warmer winters decrease the company's profits.

いきなりですが、ここでクイズです。
Suddenly, here's a quiz.

ヒントは広告です。
The clue is advertising.

もう一つおまけのヒントは「死亡」。
Another extra clue is "death".

さて、何でしょう？

答えは「死亡広告」です。
THe answer is "obituary ads."

死亡広告とは、亡くなった方の葬儀の日時をお知らせするものです。
An obituary is an announcement of the date and time of the funeral of deceased people.

ご遺族からの依頼で新聞に掲載されます。
They are placed in newspapers at the request of the bereaved families.

これが今も昔も変わらず大人気、と言うと不謹慎ですが、
葬儀広告を見るために新聞を購読している人はとても多いです。
It would be inappropriate to say that this is still very popular, as it always has been,
there are so many people who subscribe to newspapers to see the funeral ads.

毎年１月は亡くなる方が大変多く、死亡広告のかき入れどきなのですが
今年は暖かいため昨年より30％減の見込みです。
Every year in January, the number of  deaths is very high, and this is the time of year for obituary ads.
This year, due to the warm weather, I expect to see a 30% decrease from last yeaar.

だから私も仕事が暇で。。。。
That's why I'm not busy at work...

あまりに暇なので、会社でTOEICの試験勉強をしています。
I  have so much free time that I'm studying for the TOEIC exam at work.
