1月に行われるTOEICの試験を申し込みました。
I applied for the TOEIC exam which will be held in Janualy.

都会では毎月試験が行われており、試験会場もたくさんありますが、田舎では１年に4回しか開催されません。
In tne city, the test is held every month  and there are many examination venues, but in the countryside, the test is held only four times  a year.

それでも、私の住む県には会場が数カ所あるのでまだマシな方です。
Even so, it is still better in my prefecture because there are several venues.

他の県では１ヶ所しかないところが多いので驚きます。
I'm surprised that many other prefectures have only one venue.

北国は雪が降りますから、たとえ午後の試験を受けるとしても、雪のせいで当日に行くことができなくなる可能性が高いです。
It snows in the north, so even if you take to the afternoon exmam, it is highly likely that you will not be able to go on the day of the exam due to snow.

ということは、1月と3月の試験を受けるには、会場の近くのホテルを予約し、前日に宿泊しなくてはいけません。
This mean that you must  reserve a hotel near the venue and stay the day before in order to take the January and March exams.

受験料だけでなく、交通費と宿泊費もかかるなんて。
I can't believe that not only the examination fee, but also the transport and accommodation costs.

これが田舎でTOEICが浸透していない原因の一つだと思います。
I think this is one of the reasons why TOEIC isn't popular  in the countryside.

ちなみに私の試験会場は、隣町の私立大学です。
By the way, my examination venue is a private university in a neighboring town.

夏だと、車で45分くらいかかります。
It takes about 45 minutes by my car in summer.

でも雪が積もったら、または雪が積もらなくても普段から道路はアイスバーンなので、３時間前には家を出るつもりでいます。
But if it snows, or even if it doesn't, the roads are usually icy,  so I plan to leave home 3 hours before.

今回は1月に受験しますが、次からは、雪の心配をしなくて済む、5月か9月に受験しようと思います。
This time I'll take the test in January, but the next time I'll take the test in May or September when I don't have to worry about snow.
